| La Marzocco - All the Right Reasons
] |
|
It began in Florence, Italy, birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and home to such geniuses as Dante, Da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, Cellini - who created some of the most celebrated works of art in the world. It seemed only fitting that the city would witness the creation of yet another splendid work of art: La Marzocco.
Founded in 1927 by Giusseppe Bambi and his brother Bruno, La Marzocco gained the reputation throughout the region for making high quality superbly crafted and uniquely designed espresso machines. It was La Marzocco that developed and patented the first horizontal broiler in 1939 - the first of many important innovations. The company has won numerous celebrated awards as well the latest prize being the "International Andino de Fomeno", a prestigious combination awarding honoring the company for its distinguished work in "Quality Assurance". La Marzocco was also singled out and selected by Caffe Mauro for the internationally famous World Cup.
La Marzocco's continuing tradition of superior reliability and innovation designs underscores the company's commitment to producing only the very finest in espresso machines. Nothing is compromised. Each machine is still hand-crafted. The skillful care and professional pride practiced by Giuseppe and Bruno almost seven decades ago still flourished today. And while the company does not claim to be the largest manufacturer of espresso machines, it's position as the undisputed leader in quality is well established.
It is only little wonder, therefore, that ESI's competitors use La Marzocco machines as their benchmark - and as their source for comparison. And for good reason. | |
La Marzocco's brewing groups are the heaviest in the industry. - and there is good reason. A heavier group provides a more stable thermal mass, and produces a more consistent espresso. La Marzocco groups are attached directly to our independent, thermostatically controlled stainless steel water tank. We call it a "Saturated Group", because the water in the tank and the water in the group are one-in-the-same. The result: constant, brewing water temperature, shot after shot.
La Marzocco's Dual Boiler System provides you with ample milk steaming power while maintaining optimum brewing temperature. Espresso machines have two primary functions, brewing espresso and steaming milk. A typical American espresso bar uses the milk steaming function as much as 500% more than their Italian counterparts. These high demands can upset the temperature stability of a single boiler, heat-exchanger type machine. That can lead to bitter or scorched espresso.
La Marzocco dedicates a high quality stainless steel boiler to each function, allowing them to operate simultaneously yet independently of one another. The brewing boiler holds a large mass of perfect temperature water and is controlled by a precise thermostat, whereas single boiler machines rely on less accurate pressure switches, controlling stream pressure rather than temperature. The high capacity steaming boiler contains no internal heat exchangers and is therefore more efficient. The steam pressure can be set to optimum levels without fear of impacting the brewing temperature.
With La Marzocco, consistency is the rule, not the exception.

La Marzocco espresso machines are designed to accept a variety of cup sizes. Company designers, recognizing the high volume of American bars as well as the demand for different size drinks, added a thoughtful design feature: a bit more space between the group and the drain tray. This allows the barista to easily brew directly into different size cups without having to make any adjustments. No time is wasted. Better yet, it fosters better customer service and added satisfaction. Design insights such as this allow for greater efficiency and profitability.
| Omni-directional stainless steel steam wands give baristas maximum flexibility.
The La Marzocco unique steaming wand is fully articulated. In other words, the machine is flexible enough to conform to the barista's working method rather than vice versa. This design feature frees baristas to perform more efficiently, maximizing sales and profits. Each wand, it should be noted, is custom-made and is designed to last as long as the machine itself. Crafted out of stainless steel, the wands' gleaming finish maintains a clean, sanitary look.
